George Mueller was such a man of prayer. He trusted and believed God every step of his journey on this earth. He prayed and sought God for many things it didn’t matter what the issue was. He wanted to make sure that God was first in everything. So he would inform him of his decisions. For the most part of George’s life, he would put himself in the position and set up knowing that he didn’t have the money for events but God would show up every time.
According to Christianity.com when George was young he would constantly make fun of people and persecute Christians. He made a mockery out of them with his friends and loved being the life of the party. He loved going to bars, parties, and to gamble but that would all soon change one day once he turn his heart over to Jesus Christ. George prayed one day to the Lord after attending a Bible study with a friend and everything changed for him.
The event that triggered George into his life of prayer, I believe, was when he told his father about wanting to become a missionary. Well, his father was very upset after hearing this news because he wanted George to receive a high paying position. So his father refused to give him any more money to support him with his education.
More than 10,000 children lived in the orphanage over the years. When each child became old enough to live on his own, George would pray with him and put a Bible in his right hand and a coin in his left. He explained to the young person that if he held onto what was in his right hand, God would always make sure there was something in his left hand as well.
It has been more than 165 years since George Mueller took in his first orphan. His vision continues today as Christians around the world are inspired by his faith to depend on God to meet their needs and the needs of helpless children. You can see the story of George Mueller's life in a video called The Obstacle to Comfort.
