In my opinion the Greeks were great sculptors but I would have to say they were best at architecture. All you have to do is take a look at the Parthenon. The Parthenon is an outstanding engineering achievement, at a close glance you realize that there are no straight lines in its form. They noticed that if you look at a straight line, it appears curved while following it long enough.Not only was a great observation made but a structure made to perfection as well. This structure is the Parthenon, proving that imperfection can indeed create a perfect image. Over the last 200 years there have been few tourists who have not been impressed by the perfect image that many see. Politicians and cultural superstars have competed for a photograph between the Parthenon's columns. Buses full of visitors stop by everyday to make the Parthenon the centerpiece of their Athenian pilgrimage. Out of all the architecture, sculptors and places to go why would the Parthenon be a must see place? It might be because it is seen as a wonder of world culture. People might think hey might as well stop by to see what all the talking is about. Many experience dissapointment which is sad since it is a structure thought to be almost irresistible. They say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I believe this is true. While many see art and a beautiful creation others might just see an old building with columns,nothing spectacular. Other examples of dissapointment are the Pyramids and the Mona Lisa which is extremely small. There will be dissapointment at one time or the other, perfection should not always be expected especially if you are not ready to be disappointed. The Parthenon will not meet everyone's expectations but it will be a tourist attraction whether it is the best you have seen or not it will probably still stand strong.
