Power in addition to engaging in politics can help
employees influence decisions that impact their
ability to meet the needs of their customers quickly.
Walmart believes in putting the customers needs
Associate’s must have the ability to influence the
decision making process to support this
Types of Power in the organization:
Mix between formal and informal.
Management hold formal power such as
controlling resources and reward power
which is the ability to award associate’s.
Many associates posses informal power such
as expert power which is gained through
dependence, experience, and knowledge of
Who in the chosen department holds the power?
Frontline associate’s hold a substantial amount of power and influence. Between the company’s philosophy and visionary leadership style, the work environment is dependent on associate’s having the ability to make quality decisions quickly during face to face interactions with customers. Walmart must develop, train, and trust employee’s with making quality decisions.
