Purpose: This study is being undertaken as part of the Organisational Behaviour-II course. The study aims at finding how various factors such as Job Satisfaction, Organisational Strategy, Organisational Commitment and Organisational Culture are associated with various demographics in an organisation. In this way, appropriate and justified steps can be taken to devise various steps to increase overall effectiveness.

Findings: It was found out that there is significant difference between the overall job satisfaction of males and females and the females dominate on this front. At the same time, overall commitment was found significantly higher in females than in the males. It was also observed that there is no significant difference between married and unmarried respondents with regard to job satisfaction and overall commitment. Considering the employment status, it was found that overall commitment levels are high in employees who are on the permanent payroll of the organisation whereas highest job satisfaction levels were observed in contractual employees (on the payroll of third party/leasing agency). Finally, it was found that if hierarchy is kept as the deciding demographic, then the job satisfaction and overall commitment of middle level employees is the highest.

Analysis of data pertaining to organisation strategy, it was observed that no dominant strategy existed in the organisations of the sample set. However, the “Hierarchy” culture was found to be dominant in the specific sample set.

Thus, the measurement of various intangible factors such as Job Satisfaction, Organisational Strategy, Organisational Commitment and Organisational Culture becomes highly imperative. Also, it is important to find how the aforesaid factors change with various demographic factors such as gender, age, marital status etc.

This project thus aims at finding the relationship between various factors to try and devise a pattern which can aid in understanding how these factors run through various demographics. Moreover, these observations would be more concrete if they are substantiated through various statistical tools. The same would be followed as well.

Research Methodology:

• Demographics
• Organization Commitment
• Job Satisfaction
• Organizational Culture
• Organizational Strategy

The questionnaire was designed using Parnell (1977) scale for Organizational strategy; OCAI by Cameron and Quinn (1999) for Organizational Culture; Meyer & Allen (1990) for Organizational Commitment; Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) for Job Satisfaction.

Data were collected by means of questionnaires that were sent through electronic mail. Overall 500 questionnaires were mailed, and 210 usable questionnaires were received. All the respondents were from the different IT organizations of India. Data collected was analysed using SPSS tool.

Organization Commitment and Job satisfaction was analysed across all the demographic variables by comparing their means using independent sample T-test to find out the difference between Commitment and Job Satisfaction level across the various demographic variables.
