Prostitutes Turns to Craigslist

Prostitution: Should it be legal? Prostitution is known as the oldest profession in the world; however, many states in the U.S. outlaw it. The textbook definition of prostitution is the "the selling of sexual services.” Prostitution has been widespread throughout recorded history and in the United States today, about one in five adult men reports having paid for sex at some time (NORC, 2003:1226). Nevada is the first state in the United States to legalize prostitution. Although the long-term effects of legalized prostitution are uncertain, the short-term effects have been economically beneficial. Now, that we are in a more moderate living and Technology has advanced at all levels in the U.S, what better way to do business than via the Internet. As we focus on and take a look at what other options are out here in reference to expanding the business of Prostitution, the most recent place that was linked to a nationwide header liner in Prostitutes is known other then the famous website” Craigslist”. Craigslist, is best known for its employment and for-sale advertisement, there are also other posting such as housing, and other handy needed maintenance etc. These posting are free and are responded to via email response. In addition, to the services that were just mentioned, Craigslist also had a category on there website that was called “Erotic Service” in this category, the New York region alone: Most offered massage and escorts, often hinting at more. It was the Nassau County police that focused in on when eight Women were arrested on prostitution charges in there county and snared in a new sting operation towards the popular website Craigslist. Craigslist has become the high-tech 42nd Street, where much of the solicitation takes place now,” said Richard McGuire, Nassau’s assistant chief of detectives.
