Ancient Greek Civilization
The ancient Greek Civilization had a great influence on the United States Government. In my opinion Ancient Greece has a stronger and a longer impact on our civilization today because, we still follow Pericles Principles and are still ruled by majority, equality before law, and personal freedoms. Our first amendment is ruled by majority. Pericles says Athenians have personal freedoms he said “The freedom which we enjoy in our government extends also to our ordinary life.” Which is also in our bill of rights, amendments one, two, and three. We have freedom of speech, press and protest. We also have the right to bear arms. As a United States citizen you are allowed to carry weapons. We have the rights quartering of a soldier, meaning, a soldier can’t settle in your house without your permission.
Athens has a democracy. A democracy is ruled by majority. The ancient Greek Pericles said “If we look to the laws, they afford equal justice to all in their private difference if no social standing, advancement in public life falls to reputation for capacity, class conditions not being allowed to interface with merit.” With our Bill Of Rights our equality would be amendments five, six, and seven. With our rights we can’t be charged with the same crime after made official by judge, which is in the rights of criminal cases amendment. We have the right to a free trial, meaning you the right to have an attorney, but you have to know your charges when you go to court. You have the right in civil cases which means the case has the same rights as a criminal case, the only thing is the case has to be over $200 to sue someone.
The second amendment was equality before law. this relates to a lot of amendments it relates to 4, 5, and 6. it relates to amendment 4 because you have the right to let the government come in and search your house, and seas your things. and you have the rights to testify...
