Executive Summary
This report is to substantiate the theories of Organization Behavior through the study of the practical application of such theories at Tata Memorial Hospital. The scope of this report is restricted to the topics such as organization structure, organization culture, power and politics, leadership, organization change and incentive and motivation. The report talks about each of these topics with context to Tata Memorial Hospital. It first summarizes the actual observations made in the organization which include a rigid organization structure and communication channel, centralization of power, high authority, low participation from employees, emphasis on performance, etc. These observations have then been put into the various theories and frameworks studied as a part of the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) course at SP Jain Institute of Management and Research. The study draws attention to how an organization structure and the leadership can affect the organization culture and motivation levels of the employees. It also talks about the relationship between the power and politics, and implementation of change and the leadership style in practice. These theories and frameworks that have been identified to be followed at Tata Memorial Hospital, are used to draw conclusions and cite its implications on the management.
